Veteran QB Ricky Ray was the starter for the Toronto Argonauts for the first two games of this CFL season. However, he recently injured his neck and will miss significant time.

That means the Argonauts, who are currently 0-2, will turn to former Mizzou QB James Franklin to lead the team over the next few weeks.

On Tuesday, Franklin spoke with reporters, saying he’s excited for the opportunity to lead the team and is feeling the love from his teammates (via CFL.ca):

“Ricky’s been the guy,” Franklin said. “With him going down, the guys have been very welcoming. They make me feel right at home and they’re behind me, which is always a good feeling.”

Ray was 34-for-54 this season, throwing for only 307 yards and one interception, with zero touchdowns. Franklin, on the other hand, has completed nine of his 14 passes, for 67 yards and a touchdown.

The Argonauts are looking for answers right now, and Franklin once led to Mizzou to the SEC Championship Game, so perhaps things will turn around for Toronto.
