Monday is Veterans Day, so this weekend, many teams around the country are saluting the troops with special uniforms.

When the Missouri Tigers host Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon, they’ll pay homage to the 117 Mizzou students who gave their lives in World War I.

As you can see in the video below, the Tigers will wear black jerseys, black pants and black helmets, with the helmets bearing an emblem of the service medal that was given to every Missourian who served in WWI:

The following video goes more in-depth about the history of the decal:

In addition to the decals, this release from the school also says players will honor the fallen Mizzou students by wearing their names on the special jerseys:

The names of the fallen students will be memorialized in a special way on Saturday, as each Tiger player will wear the name of one of the fallen 117 on the back of their black jerseys. The World War I Tigers were randomly picked to go on the jersey of a current Tiger player – for example, senior DL Nate Anderson (#29) will be representing Robert Steele Thurman. At the end of the season, the Department of Athletics will reach out to family members of the fallen 117 to commemorate the event.

These uniforms have a lot of meaning and should be very special for the players wearing them. See them in action on Saturday at noon Eastern time on the SEC Network.
