Vanderbilt entered Saturday’s home game against Mizzou 0-4 in SEC play with 3 massive blowouts on their resume.

But, even without starting QB Ken Seals and a couple of key running backs, the Commodores kept things close against the reeling Tigers.

However, with the Tigers looking like they were going to enter halftime trailing 14-10, a play happened that changed the dynamic of the game. As you can see below, the Tigers

Star Mizzou RB Tyler Badie had another big game, running for a career high 254 yards and 2 touchdowns and adding 8 catches for 40 yards. Here was his run to open the scoring in the second half:

Here was another of his bruising runs on a career day for the talented back:

Mizzou’s other offensive weapon — kicker Harrison Mevis — drilled a 52-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to make it a 2-score game. He continues to be an incredibly consistent kicker.

Vanderbilt didn’t go away, though. With 3:11 left in the fourth quarter, QB Mike Wright threw for a touchdown to cut the score to 30-28.

That’s when Badie broke off a run of more than 70 yards to set the Tigers up inside the 5-yard line. Tyler Macon then scored from 2 yards out to seal the 37-28 victory for the Tigers.

Macon was in the game due to an apparent leg injury suffered by starting QB Connor Bazelak. We’ll see how that situation progresses moving forward.

TheTigers have a trip to face No. 1 Georgia coming up next weekend, so improving to 4-4 overall was important for confidence ahead of that daunting task. Vanderbilt now heads into an off week. It’s not looking good for the Commodores in their quest to win an SEC game this year. Vanderbilt has now lost 18-straight SEC games.
