2017 will be an interesting season for the Mizzou Tigers.

Barry Odom will be going into his second year as the Tigers’ head coach, and he failed to make a bowl game during his first season. While there’s a grace period for a new head coach, Mizzou needs to show improvement in Year 2, making this spring somewhat crucial for a young team in need of developing.

And the Tigers will be without two offensive players this spring, according to PowerMizzou’s Gabe DeArmond, citing sources. Running back Ryan Williams and wide receiver DeSean Blair aren’t returning to the team. This team has some nice young receivers and running backs, so these decisions aren’t too surprising.

Williams, a redshirt freshman in 2016, played in just one game against Delaware State and recorded just 51 yards. Freshman Damarea Crockett, junior Ish Witter and sophomore Nate Strong all recorded more rushing yards than Williams this past season.

DeSean Blair didn’t record any stats this past season.

The Tigers finished 4-8 in 2016 and ranked fifth in scoring offense under first-year coordinator Josh Heupel.
