Barry Odom seems like a good choice for Missouri. The Tigers defense finished ninth in the nation and kept the team close in several games.

While promoting the former defensive coordinator was popular among the Tigers players and fan base, he still has work in front of him.

Missouri’s offense was dismal this year. It finished 119th in the country. Tigers offensive coordinator Josh Henson was let go last week.

So who will take over?

The name talked about most is Utah State offensive coordinator Josh Heupel. The former Oklahoma QB might be an ideal mentor for Mizzou QB Drew Lock.

Heupel was Oklahoma’s QB in 2000 when the Sooners defeated Florida State in the national championship game. He’s been solid at Utah State. Though nothing is set in stone, but this looks like a real possibility.

Utah State had a mediocre season, finishing 6-6. But its offense showed explosiveness, putting up more than 30 points in five games.

If you follow college football closely, you’ll know that Utah State wasn’t Heupel’s only coordinator gig. He called plays for Oklahoma under Bob Stoops for the last four years until he was let go before the start of this season. Oklahoma ranked in the top 20 in scoring during three of Heupel’s four seasons at Oklahoma.

This looks like it would be a slam dunk for Missouri as it craves life on offense.

Former Mizzou offensive coordinator Dave Christensen, who left Gary Pinkel’s staff to take a head coaching position at Wyoming, has mentioned. Christensen is currently offensive line coach and run-game coordinator at Texas A&M.

O.J. Ofodile, a former Mizzou player coaching at Rock Bridge High in Columbia, is another name that has surfaced. Ofodile was offensive coordinator when Odom was coach at Rock Bridge.
