The Alabama football team picked up a big-time commitment at midnight on Wednesday, landing 4-star DE Byron Young out of Mississippi.

The Crimson Tide footballers weren’t the only ones to make a splash on Independence Day, though, as coach Avery Johnson’s basketball squad managed to keep pace.

As you can see in the video below, 4-star F Diante Smith out of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, announced he was committing to the Crimson Tide:

According to the 247Sports rankings, Smith is the No. 34 small forward in the class of 2019 and the No. 9 overall recruit from the state of Florida.

Smith was the first commitment for the Tide’s 2019 class. The class of one currently ranks No. 6 in the SEC and No. 37 nationally, per 247Sports.
