Auburn football added its 4th top 100 prospect in the Class of 2027 on Monday, landing a commitment from 4-star defensive back Chance Gilbert. So far, Gilbert is the 3rd highest-rated addition of Auburn‘s 15th ranked 2027 cycle, behind 4-star RB Myson Johnson-Cook and 4-star LB Isaac McNeil.
Gilbert hails from Sharpsburg, Georgia and attends East Coweta high school. He stands at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds and possesses elite speed and mobility, perhaps stemming from his track & field background. Gilbert ended his sophomore season with 44 tackles, 8 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and a force fumble.
His offer list, as you can imagine, is pretty impressive. He chose the Tigers over the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Nebraska and Oregon, to name a few. In short, Gilbert had his choice from just about every school in the country, and he believes in Alex Golesh’s vision.
Gilbert is the 3rd defensive back to commit to Auburn this cycle, joining 3-star prospects Aidyn Wiggins and Nash Johnson III.
He’s highly-rated, too. Gilbert is the No. 56 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, as well as the No. 8 safety and No. 8 prospect out of the Peach State.
