Arkansas lost a freshman to a season-ending injury this week, coach Bret Bielema said on the SEC coaches teleconference, though the team is already deep at his position.

Wide receiver Koilan Jackson suffered an ACL injury during one-on-one drills in practice Tuesday, and will undergo surgery soon to repair the injury. After rehab, Jackson could return for spring practice in March.

Jackson did not play in the Razorbacks’ 49-7 victory over Florida A&M on Thursday.

He is the son of All-Pro tight end Keith Jackson Sr., a member of the College Football Hall of Fame who played at Oklahoma from 1984-87 and served as a member of the Razorback Sports Network as a color analyst on radio broadcasts from 2000-16. Jackson is a Little Rock, Ark. native.

The coach said Jackson would likely redshirt because of so many other players at the receiver position.

“This is a negative situation now and no one likes to see someone go through this,” Bielema said, “but he’s a very strong young man, great in his faith and has a great family.”
