When you have to replace a Heisman Trophy finalist like Kyle Trask at quarterback, it’s never an easy task.

But, the Florida Gators are moving forward nonetheless. This year, Emory Jones figures to be the Gators’ primary quarterback. He brings more with his legs than Trask did, though he isn’t the pure passer Trask was.

Still, coach Dan Mullen is confident in Jones. He admitted on Monday that Jones will miss some plays every now and then, but his ability to make the extraordinary play makes up for that:

As Trask’s backup in 2020, Jones threw for 221 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also ran for 217 yards and 2 scores.

The Gators have some talent returning on offense, so we’ll see if Jones can become a star as the starter in 2021.
