After struggling at the quarterback position since Tim Tebow left, the Florida Gators enter the 2017 season with what should be several decent options at the position.
Between Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire, returning 2016 starter Luke Del Rio and redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask, the Gators are hoping a star emerges.
Though Zaire won’t automatically win the starting job, coach Jim McElwain said at SEC Media Days on Tuesday that the former Fighting Irish star isn’t planning on sitting on the bench this fall:
@CoachMcElwain said Malik Zaire didn't come to UF to hold a clipboard. "and if you're afraid of the depth chart you can run away."

In three seasons at Notre Dame, Zaire appeared in 15 games, throwing for 816 yards and six touchdowns to go with 324 rushing yards and two additional scores.
If he can play well this summer and lock down the starting job, the Gators could take a major step forward offensively this fall.
