Nansemond-Suffolk Academy (Virginia) standout George Pettaway is considered one of the top running backs in the class of 2022. On Sunday, he named Florida as one of his top four schools, along with North Carolina, Oregon and Penn State.
Listed at 5-11, 190 pounds, Pettaway is rated 4-stars, the No. 7 running back and No. 100 recruit overall of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. In June, he took unofficial visits to UF and UNC while using two of his allotted official visits on Michigan and Penn State.
Dan Mullen’s staff has one running back pledge already committed for 2022, Terrance Gibbs, a 4-star in-state prospect who is coming off of a torn ACL that sidelined him as a junior. In the last three classes, Mullen’s staff has signed only one running back out of high school, Nay’Quan Wright in 2019. The Gators added Lorenzo Lingard and Demarkcus Bowman from the transfer portal in the 2020 and 2021 classes.
