A top-10 showdown in Jacksonville with Atlanta implications resulted in big ratings for CBS.
The network announced Sunday that Georgia-Florida was the most-watched afternoon game on any network of the 2018 college football season.
The game earned a 4.5/10 average household rating/share, up 105 percent from last year (2.2/5, Georgia-Florida), in the metered markets.
It appears the fact that the game was relatively close for three quarters with Georgia pulling away late helped with the ratings. CBS says the rating/share peaked at a 5.3/12 in Saturday’s game from (6:00-6:30 p.m. ET)
The network hopes another 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff for the Bulldogs in Week 10 will lead to more big ratings. UGA travels to Kentucky to play for the SEC East championship, which could be another top-10 showdown for the Dawgs.
The Wildcats were No. 12 in the AP Top 25 entering Week 9, but losses by No. 6 Texas and No. 9 Florida could lift UK to No. 10 or higher. UK knocked off Missouri 15-14 Saturday scoring on the final play of the game.
