Mississippi State continued its impressive start to the season with a 31-10 victory at Kansas State as RB Kylin Hill rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs moved to 2-0 on the season, and are set to play Louisiana next week. Mississippi State held Kansas State to 113 rushing yards on 35 carries, and no touchdowns. The Wildcats were also 3-for-12 on third down.
“Physicality, I think it showed on both sides of the ball, rushing for almost 400 (yards),” coach Joe Moorhead said, in a video posted by the Clarion-Ledger. “Holding down a team that prides itself on running the ball pretty well. Lastly, the attention to detail in a margin of error league against an opponent like Kansas State that’s very small and I felt we executed with more precision today than we did against Stephen F. Austin.”
Moorhead credited the entire offensive unit for paving the way for Hill.
“It starts with the guys up front and I thought … (that) group did an excellent job blocking, and that includes the tight ends,” he said. “We talk about creating vertical and horizontal movement at the line of scrimmage, and I thought they did that. … Certainly Kylin runs with a tremendous physicality and runs behind his pads, and also has that second gear to take it the distance.”
