Joey Gatewood has left Auburn, but he could be staying in the SEC.

After it was previously reported that the former Tigers quarterback would be visiting Kentucky this weekend, Gatewood shared pictures from his official visit with the Wildcats on Twitter on Sunday:

Gatewood had a brief career at Auburn, as this was his second season with the Tigers after redshirting in 2018. In seven games this year, he went 5-for-7 for 54 yards and two touchdowns, while also totaling 148 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries.

However, Gatewood’s path to playing time may have been difficult at Auburn, because the Tigers also have true freshman quarterback Bo Nix.

Gatewood could be a good fit at Kentucky, which has been playing wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. at quarterback due to a lack of depth at the position.

If all went well with Gatewood’s visit with the Wildcats this weekend, perhaps we’ll soon learn if he could be transferring to Kentucky.
