Kentucky basketball will host West Virginia transfer Tre Mitchell on a recruiting visit this weekend, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Travis Branham, who also notes that Mitchell is officially in the portal. West Virginia is going through a coaching change right now after Bob Huggins resigned last week.

Mitchell is a top target for the Wildcats and would fill multiple roster needs for next season.

Mitchell is a strong rebounder and would be a candidate to start in Kentucky’s front court next season. He’s also a good shooter for a big — he has made 34.7% of his 3-point attempts across a 4-year collegiate career.

Kentucky has not brought in any transfers yet this offseason despite losing a number of key players including Cason Wallace, Oscar Tshiebwe and Chris Livingston. As of publication, the only scholarship upperclassman on Kentucky’s roster for next season is Antonio Reeves.

Kentucky does have the nation’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class set to join the program this offseason, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Mitchell has 1 year of eligibility remaining.
