Leonard Fournette offers relief to Hurricane Ida victims: ‘It’s time to step up’

Former LSU star Leonard Fournette is again stepping up to help victims of of a major storm, this time it’s after Hurricane Ida, which moved through Louisiana in recent days.

His support is a six-figure donation.

“It’s time to step up,” he shared on social media. “The New Orleans community is being hit hard by Hurricane Ida and in need of the world’s support. I am supporting the following organizations in its relief efforts to provide my beloved city and its families, children and individuals with basic necessities. … I’m putting up my own 100k for my city everything and anything helps let’s keep it going … luv my city.”

This isn’t the first time Fournette has stepped up. In 2015, he auctioned off his jersey to benefit South Carolina flood relief. In 2017, Fournette donated $50,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Houston.

Fournette is a native of New Orleans, and the area was hit hard by the Category 4 storm came ashore with winds nearing 150 miles per hour with higher gusts. Millions remain without power and many are still being rescued in the aftermath of the storm.

Fournette with the Tampa Bay Bucs last year saw his production increase in the playoffs as they ultimately won the Super Bowl.
