Coming out of high school in New Jersey, Minkah Fitzpatrick chose to commit to Alabama over Florida State and other big-time programs.
Two titles and three championship-game appearances later, it’s safe to say Fitzpatrick, who was just a first-round NFL Draft pick, is happy with his choice.
On the “Tiki and Tierney” show on Thursday, Fitzpatrick said he was drawn to Tuscaloosa because of the excellence Nick Saban demanded of everyone in the program:

“Coach Saban is a great coach, and the way he ran the program, it was just different than everybody else,” he said. “We were in the championship for a reason. We were winning games for a reason. There’s a demand for excellence that was placed on us for every aspect on the board. ”
Now, Fitzpatrick will be counted on to help instill that mentality in the Miami Dolphins. Fortunately for him, Saban gave him all the tools necessary to find success wherever he ends up.
