Mississippi State will kick off the college football proceedings across the country on Saturday with an 11 a.m. local time kickoff at Kansas State.
The No. 18-ranked Bulldogs revealed their uniform combination ahead of the first road game of the season. They’ll go with all-white from head to toe.
It’s the first non-conference road game against a Power 5 opponent for Mississippi State in 10 years (Georgia Tech). It hasn’t beaten a Power 5 team on the road since Baylor in 1995.
This is another game to watch the quarterback play as Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald is set to return from a one-game suspension served last week for a violation of team rules. In his absence, backup Keytaeon Thompson tied an SEC single-game record with seven combined touchdowns passing and rushing in a 63-6 win over Stephen F. Austin. Fitzgerald is a dark-horse contender for the Heisman Trophy after last season when he passed for 1,782 and 15 TDs and rushed for 984 and 14 scores.
Kansas State is expected to play two quarterbacks in starter Skylar Thompson and backup Alex Delton They each struggled last week in a 27-24 win over South Dakota.
