On Saturday, Tua Tagovailoa played in his first game since undergoing ankle surgery. And according to Alabama head coach Nick Saban, the quarterback came out of the contest against LSU with some soreness.
However, it appears like Crimson Tide fans have nothing to worry about for the future.
During Saban’s Monday press conference, the Alabama coach gave an update on Tagovailoa’s status, stating that the quarterback could miss practice later in the afternoon but that he’s in overall good shape.
“He’s a little sore, as to be expected,” Saban told the media. “We did all the medical research that you could do on him to find out if he did any damage or hurt himself in any way, shape or form, and he did not. So we’ll manage the soreness, may give him a day off [Monday] and start him back [Tuesday] a little bit. We’ll manage it day to day, and he should respond each and every week. But the situation that he’s in is very much expected, and he doesn’t have any further issues.”

Although Alabama lost to LSU at home, 46-41, Tagovailoa had a solid showing despite his injured ankle, passing for 418 yards and four touchdowns. It was his first game since Oct. 19, as he missed the Crimson Tide’s win over Arkansas on Oct. 26.
Based on Tagovailoa’s performance and Saban’s updates, it seems likely that Tagovailoa will be on the field again this Saturday. Alabama is set to travel to Mississippi State for a noon ET kickoff, which will air on ESPN.
