In Week 2, No. 15 Georgia went into South Bend and beat No. 24 Notre Dame in an exciting matchup.
However, at the time, no one truly appreciated the game for what it was — a matchup between two of the best teams in the country. Georgia used the win to build on a season that now has the Bulldogs at No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings, while Notre Dame hasn’t lost since and is now No. 3 in the rankings.
On SportsCenter on Saturday morning, ESPN host Paul Finebaum said no other team in the country has a win as good as Georgia’s Week 2 victory over the Fighting Irish.
โSome of the other signature wins have gone by the wayside, particularly Alabama over Florida State,” he said.
However, Finebaum said that will all change this weekend, as Georgia, Alabama and Notre Dame all face tough road tests.
“Today is going to change that. All these games are significant. This is the most significant Saturday of the season.โ
Indeed it should be an exciting week of college football action. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out and what the CFP rankings look like next week.
