The Philadelphia Eagles decided to shore up their defensive line when they selected former Tennessee DE Derek Barnett with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Barnett broke NFL legend Reggie White’s sack record during his time in Knoxville and will now try to follow in the ex-Vol’s footsteps at the pro level, as White also played for the Eagles.
On Thursday, the team announced it had officially signed the first-round pick, inking him to a four-year contract:

Barnett was the second SEC defensive lineman taken in this year’s draft, behind only No. 1 overall pick and former Texas A&M star Myles Garrett.
He’ll join a defensive unit that recorded 33 sacks in 2016, which just so happens to be the number of sacks Barnett recorded by himself during his Tennessee career.
