Sports Illustrated 2019 mock draft features 4 from SEC in top 10

It’s incredibly early for 2019 mock drafts. The order is far from decided as NFL teams have yet to even play a snap of preseason ball. More importantly, the potential draft class has a full season of college ball ahead. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer acknowledges these factors, but he still mocked a potential top 10 picks which includes four players from the SEC.
Obviously a big part of the draft is determined by each team’s needs. Breer determined his drafting order going in reverse order of Bovada’s Super Bowl odds for the season. That gave Breer the New York Jets which he believes will pick Ohio State DE Nick Bosa. His SEC selections start two picks later.
- No. 3, Arizona Cardinals: Ole Miss OT Greg Little
- No. 6, Chicago Bears: Alabama OT Jonah Williams
- No. 7, Washington Redskins: Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham
- No. 9, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: LSU CB Greedy Williams
It’s highly unlikely the top 10 plays out exactly like Breer’s admittedly way-too-early prediction, but it would be a big turnaround for the SEC after having only one player, Georgia LB Roquan Smith, go in the top 10 this past spring.
Breer also names seven more SEC players to his 10 more players to watch. They are:
- Georgia CB DeAndre Baker
- Ole Miss WR AJ Brown
- Alabama DL Raekwon Davis
- Alabama RB Damien Harris
- Missouri QB Drew Lock
- Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons
- LSU LB Devin White
Breer’s thoughts on all 11 players as 2019 draft prospects can be found in the article.
