A 3-star linebacker in Mississippi State’s backyard has decided to back off his pledge to LSU.

Starkville, Miss. LB Zach Edwards tweeted Tuesday that he has “decided to take a step back and decommit” from the Tigers. Edwards, rated the No. 22 inside linebacker and No. 17 overall recruit in Mississippi by the 247Sports Composite, has taken visits to Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M since committing to LSU in March. He has scholarship from all four SEC West schools mentioned as well as Marshall and South Alabama.

LSU has 18 other commitments for 2019 in a class which ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC (with Edwards).

Highlights of the 6-2, 217-pound lineback can be seen below.
