The next step has been taken in the case against Kipling Deshawn Colbert, the man charged with shooting Knoxville high school football player Zaevion Dobson back in December 2015 as Dobson shielded two girls from the bullets.
Colbert, who has been in custody on a $1 million bond, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge by a grand jury on Tuesday.
The Knoxville Police Department announced details of the indictment on its Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon:
Dobson, who played at Fulton High School, received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2016 ESPYs. Tennessee S Todd Kelly Jr. also honored Dobson by wearing Dobson’s number (24) in 2016.
