Notre Dame is currently undefeated and the No. 3 team in the College Football Playoff rankings. If the Irish beat USC on Saturday night, they’ll basically be a lock to make the final four.

However, the debate then becomes where they would be ranked — No. 3 or No. 4 (assuming Alabama and Clemson win out)? During Saturday’s College GameDay, Desmond Howard gave an opinion that got Chris “Bear” Fallica heated up.

As you can see in the video below, Howard says if the Wolverines win out, they should jump to No. 3 ahead of Notre Dame. Bear can’t believe that, as Notre Dame would be undefeated and has a Week 1 victory over Michigan in its pocket:

Bear has a point, but Howard’s argument is that wins at Ohio State and in the Big Ten title game would be impressive for the Wolverines.

We’ll see how the Playoff committee sees things on Tuesday, but first, both teams must continue to win.
