Ahead of the final College Football Playoff rankings which will set the lineup of the New Year’s Six bowl games and the CFP semifinals, everyone is trying to make their case. Notre Dame entered the day 10-0 and ranked No. 2. The Fighting Irish were blown out Saturday in the ACC Championship Game, falling to Clemson 34-10.

The loss has some wondering if Notre Dame belongs in the final four considering the wins by Ohio State and Texas A&M. Brian Kelly shared his case for his team.

“There’s no doubt this football team is one of the best four teams in the country, and we’ll leave the rest up to the committee,” Kelly told reporters after the game.

Kelly’s case focuses on Notre Dame’s resume.

“We’ve got two top 15 wins,” Kelly said after the Clemson loss. “We’ve got a win over this Clemson team, which was No. 1 in the country. I don’t think anybody has a resume with those two wins. And we played 11 games. That matters.”

Kelly refers to Notre Dame’s wins over Clemson (without Trevor Lawrence) and North Carolina.

It will be certainly be a busy Sunday of debate for the media talking heads before the selection committee reveals its final rankings on Sunday.
