Some of the worst aspects of social media were exposed again this week toward Ohio State’s E.J. Liddell, who shared that he received death threats in the wake of the Buckeyes’ loss to Oral Roberts.

CBS analyst Charles Barkley went on a heated anti-social media rant following the news, and explained why he would never be on social media, no matter the money offered. Barkley said he’s sometimes given a hard time about not having social media accounts.

“This is the reason why, No. 1 he had a great game,” Barkley said. “But for you to give this kid death threats, and hurl racial slurs at him because you’re safe in your own home like a coward behind a computer and nobody knows who you are. You need to take a hard look at yourself in the mirror. I’m never gonna dignify these losers and interact with them ever, I don’t care how much money somebody offers me, I’m never going to do social media because of this.”

Barkley went on to say that a lot on social media is positive, but for the people who did this to Liddell, Barkley said, “You’re just a freaking loser.”
