Ole Miss’ secondary isn’t off to a strong start this season. And it doesn’t help that the Rebels are losing depth at the positions.

Last weekend, safety C.J. Moore tore a pectoral muscle and it was announced on Tuesday that he will miss the rest of the season. That hurt Ole Miss’ secondary even more after defensive backs Montrell Custis and Jaylon Jones were already out with torn ACLs.

Now, the Rebels are filling their holes in the secondary with running backs.

Parrish Alford of the Daily Journal reported that junior Armani Linton and freshman Tylan Knight have both been moved to safety.

Linton had 22 rushing yards on six carries this season after not getting a carry over the previous two seasons. Knight had 107 yards on 19 carries.

With neither Linton or Knight getting much of an opportunity on offense, it can’t hurt to try moving the duo to a position of need.

The Rebels are 3-2, but they’ve lost both of their conference games to Alabama and LSU. They’ve allowed more than 40 points three times already.

This week, Ole Miss looks to rebound when it hosts Louisiana-Monroe. The Rebels and Warhawks are set to kick off at 4 p.m. ET.
