If you missed the latest from Oxford among the avalanche of sports news on Thursday, Ole Miss has postponed the start of spring practice until March 30 — at the earliest.

The school announced the news on Thursday after the SEC announced all league sports have been suspended until March 30.

Here is the statement from the SEC if you missed it:

Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Southeastern Conference today announced the suspension of regular season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well SEC championship events, until March 30.

Following that news from the NCAA and the decision from Ole Miss to delay Lane Kiffin’s first spring practice in Oxford, AD Kieth Carter has released the following statement:

“The safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans is and will continue to be our top priority. In accordance with the SEC announcement, we have suspended regular-season competition for our teams until at least March 30. We are still evaluating training, travel and other team activities for those sports that are both in season and out. We are disappointed for everyone affected by these events and particularly our student-athletes that have worked so hard for these opportunities. We will continue to monitor the situation and determine the next steps based on the leadership of the SEC and our medical professionals.”
