Ole Miss enters the season as the No. 20 team in the country after a solid 10-3 campaign last year.

But a lot has changed from last year’s squad. The Rebels return half their starters but lose their most important weapons on offense in Snoop Conner, Jerrion Early and of course, Matt Corral.

In ESPN’s preseason power rankings, writer Chris Low pinpointed the Rebels’ one major question mark heading into the 2022 season.

“The Rebels brought in several high-profile transfers, including former USC quarterback Jaxson Dart. He’s a talented passer who should fit well into Kiffin’s system, but replacing Matt Corral at quarterback would be a tall order for any player or for any team.”

And it’s hard to disagree. Dart played in 6 games as a freshman at USC, throwing for just over 1,000 yards and 9 touchdowns before tearing his meniscus against Washington State. Even still, Corral was a veteran presence who willed the Rebel offense to wins last season and was one of the better quarterbacks in college football.

Good luck, Lane.
