Ole Miss fell to LSU in overtime Saturday night after holding a lead for the vast majority of the game and allowing the Tigers to score a last-minute touchdown to tie things up in regulation.

The loss dropped Lane Kiffin’s Rebels to 5-2 (1-2) on the season, a mark that does not bode well for the team’s playoff chances.

Kiffin felt the same immense disappointment and frustration as his team last night, and he shared a message with them after the game:

“This sucks, guys. I feel for you, and you have a bye so you don’t get to play again. I don’t have a lot of positive for you,” Kiffin said in his postgame press conference. “It’s easier to get beat by a couple of scores but this is like our game over half of the game and we let it slip away. These are hard. This one will be around forever.”

The rest of Ole Miss’ schedule does provide opportunities for the program to pick up notable wins and remain in the playoff picture. The Rebels pay a visit to Arkansas and also welcome Georgia to Oxford, which both could be ranked matchups depending how the ensuing weeks play out.

First, Ole Miss faces its first bye week of the season before it hosts Oklahoma on October 26.
