Not much went right for Ole Miss during the first half of its game at Memphis.

One play late in the first half summed up the Rebels’ misery.

Ole Miss, which trailed 17-14 with about a minute left, forced Memphis into a 3rd-and-13 at the Tigers’ 37. Hold, and maybe Memphis adds a field goal. Maybe the Tigers miss, or maybe they punt.

Instead, Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch hit Anthony Miller on a short throw several yards in front of the sticks.

Ole Miss defensive back Tony Bridges and linebacker Terry Caldwell converged, but ending up tackling each other as Miller juked his way to a key first down.

Ole Miss scored two plays later to extend its lead to 24-14.
