An Ole Miss defense that struggled mightily in 2018 is getting one of its better players back next season.

Defensive tackle Benito Jones announced Friday on Twitter that he intends to return to Oxford for his senior year. At 6-foot-2, 315-pounds, Jones is a potential pro prospect who could’ve opted to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jones appeared in all 12 games for the Rebels this season, racking up 34 tackles and six quarterback hurries. He was second on the team in both tackles for loss (nine) and sacks (three).

His return boosts an Ole Miss program that had already seen two of its better players — receivers A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf — declare for the NFL draft. That Jones is a defensive player makes his decision to come back even better for the Rebels.
