Ole Miss landed one of the most sought after defensive prospects in the entire 2017 recruiting class Sunday evening when Madison Prep Academy’s (Baton Rouge, LA) Bryan Jones announced his commitment.

Jones, who stands at an impressive 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, has received over 25 scholarship offers to this point but chose the Rebels over Texas. Given a 4-star rating, Jones ranks as the No. 6 overall strong-side defensive end for his class, according to 247Sports.

“There is great coaching at Ole Miss,” Jones told 247Sports. “I like what coach Hugh Freeze is doing there with the program. Ole Miss is on the rise. I like what coach [Chris] Kiffin can do with his defensive linemen. Coach Kiffin came by the school last week to check on me. I couldn’t talk to him, but it has really been on my mind about committing to Ole Miss for a few days now.”

Ole Miss now has four members of its 2017 class, which currently ranks No. 45 nationally (No. 12 SEC).

“They’re telling me to come and be ready to work hard to get better, faster and stronger,” Jones said.
They’re telling me come and be the next Robert Nkemdiche. That’s what I want to do.

“I’m looking forward to being there,” he continued. “I’m excited about seeing everything. I’m excited about being an Ole Miss Rebel.”
