Ole Miss is expected to hire a former Power 5 offensive coordinator to its staff as analyst.

Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported that former Texas, Syracuse and USF offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert will join the Rebels.

Gilbert arrived at Syracuse in 2020 after he was the head coach at McNeese State for the 2019 season.

When he was at Syracuse, the offense ranked 118th and 92nd in the Football Bowl Subdivision, respectively, in scoring offense. Syracuse’s offense struggled late in the season, and averaged about 11 points in its final 3 games, all losses as the Orange missed out on bowl eligibility for the 3rd consecutive season.

Gilbert at McNeese State in 2019 brought an up-tempo spread to the Cowboys and they responded with a 7-5 season, including 4 wins in their last 5 games.
