Ole Miss is set to hire a former Alabama and NFL wide receiver to a support staff role.

Kevin Norwood is set to join the Rebels after he previously worked at Louisiana as a quality control coach, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

According to Norwood’s LinkedIn profile, he’s worked at Louisiana since February, 2021.

He played in the NFL for 4 seasons, and registered stats in 2 of them, 2014 and 2015, for a combined 10 games between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks. In 2014 with the Seahawks, Norwood made 9 catches in 9 games for 102 yards.

Norwood is a native of D’Iberville, Mississippi, and played at Alabama from 2010-13, and played at least 11 games each season with 81 catches for 1,275 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Norwood, who was known as “Mr. Clutch,” left Alabama with a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and 3 national championship rings.

“I left,” Norwood told NFL.com, “with no regrets.”

“He’s very conscientious and he’s very smart,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “He’s always going to know what to do. He’s going to do it exactly like you tell him to do it.”
