According to an official statement released by the Patriots, the team intends to re-sign former Ole Miss RB Brandon Bolden. Though the details of the contract remain undisclosed, it is confirmed that Bolden will remain with the team that signed him as an unrestricted free agent in 2012.

For the Patriots, Bolden has done a bit of almost everything. The 27-year-old back has appeared in 67 games, where he amassed 203 rushing attempts for 845 yards and six touchdowns, caught 46 passes for 366 yards with two touchdowns, and even played heavily on special teams, registering 20 tackles and a blocked punt.

That’s sometimes what it takes for players to stay in the NFL.

While at Ole Miss, Bolden’s most productive season came in 2010 when he rushed for 976 yards on 163 attempts.

Bolden’s career has been one of overcoming obstacles, as he saw his carries shrink to 96 in his senior season before going undrafted. Bolden turned those odds around by immediately sticking with the Patriots as one of their prototypical hard-working players. That worked paid off in the form of two Super Bowl wins, including last year’s 31-point comeback against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

Bolden has proven that he belongs in the NFL, and now it appears that he’ll be rewarded for it.
