Meridian defender Deuntra Hyman reportedly just decommit from Ole Miss. That’s a big blow considering he’s one of Mississippi’s top 10 prospects. The development is all the more interesting considering where Hyman just flipped. He’s not going to Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, or LSU. He’s flipping his commitment to Southern Miss.

Not a great look for an Ole Miss class that already ranks No. 10 in the current SEC recruiting rankings for 2018.

News of Hyman’s decision was first reported by Jason Munz of the Hattiesburg American. Hyman had been committed to Ole Miss since last spring and stuck with his pledge all throughout the end of the Hugh Freeze era and Matt Luke’s interim tenure. The defensive lineman officially visited Southern Miss over the weekend.

While Hyman is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is listed as the No. 9 overall prospect from the state and was named as to the 2017 Dandy Dozen by the Clarion-Ledger, annually rewarded to the state’s top prospects.

Ole Miss is now down to three commits, to go along with 14 signees, with National Signing Day set to arrive next week.
