Former Ole Miss standout Robert Nkemdiche is back on an NFL active roster for the first time in years. The Seattle Seahawks recently announced the promotion.

Nkemdiche’s NFL career began in 2016 when he was taken by the Arizona Cardinals at No. 29 in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft after playing college football at Ole Miss. Nkemdiche finished his career at the Rebels with 80 tackles and 6 sacks.

Nkemdiche, who has dealt with multiple off-the-field issues over the years, was with Arizona until a 2019 offseason release. He signed with Miami ahead of the 2019 season and spent time on the reserve/PUP list while recovering from knee surgery that ended his 2018 season. The Dolphins activated Nkemdiche on Oct. 28 but waived him on Nov. 5.

Nkemdiche’s best season with the Cardinals was in 2018 when he had a career-high 4.5 sacks. His current contract with Seattle is for $900,000, and none of it is guaranteed money.
