The Nix brothers are reuniting in Oxford.

That move was made official on Monday when Virginia Tech announced safeties coach Tyrone Nix was leaving for Ole Miss. The Rebels already have Derrick Nix on staff serving as associate head coach and running backs coach under Matt Luke. Derrick has been on staff in Oxford for a decade.

This won’t be Tyrone Nix’s first stop in Oxford, as he previously served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Ole Miss for four seasons under Houston Nutt. At one point during that run, Nix was nominated for the 2009 Frank Broyles Award — given annually to the nation’s best assistant coach. After leaving Ole Miss, Nix coached at MTSU and Texas A&M before landing the safeties role in Blacksburg a year ago.

Now Matt Luke has made the decision to finalize his Ole Miss coaching staff for 2019 by bringing Nix back to Oxford.
