Jameis Winston’s biggest contribution to Monday night’s Ole Miss-Florida State showdown appeared to be his transformation into a meme, but he was serious as could be when he laid into the Seminoles at halftime.

“SEC? Florida State!,” the former FSU quarterback exclaimed. “Your brothers, your team, your heartbeat. … Get right, wake up, man!”

At that point, the No. 4 Seminoles looked outmatched and outmuscled against the No. 11 Rebels. A slew of penalties, a suspect secondary and a fumble by Heisman Trophy candidate Dalvin Cook as he was walking into the end zone marred what was supposed to be a huge opening game for FSU.

But the Seminoles turned it on after halftime, reeling off 33 unanswered points and holding off Ole Miss late behind true freshman quarterback Deondre Francois’ breakout game and a bullying pass rush. It seems as if Winston’s words resounded with his former team.
