Year after year, the SEC produces outstanding defensive ends, and the 2015 season definitely had its share.

Florida’s Jonathan Bullard and Auburn’s DaVonte Lambert are two senior DEs who have played their last SEC games. Alabama’s A’Shawn Robinson and Mississippi’s Robert Nkemdiche are two junior defensive ends heading to the NFL a year early.

These departures have given others the opportunity to rise up our list of the SEC’s best defensive ends in 2016. As we approach the NFL Draft, it’s time to take a look at the conference’s Top 10 returnees at the position:

10. Deatrich Wise Jr., Arkansas: Of Wise’s 31 tackles, 10.5 were for a loss and he had 8 sacks to lead the Razorbacks in both categories. The 6-5, 272-pound rising senior also recorded 5 QB hurries to go along with 3 forced fumbles and 3 pass break-ups.

9. Lewis Neal, LSU: Eight of the rising senior’s 9.5 tackles for loss were sacks, which led the Tigers. The 6-2, 264-pounder also had 48 total tackles, 8 QB hurries, 6 pass break-ups and one forced fumble.

8. Da’Shawn Hand, Alabama: Of his 16 total tackles in 2015, 6.5 were for loss. The 6-4, 273-pounder added 3 sacks and 2 QB hurries and should be an important cog on the Crimson Tide’s D-line next season.

7. Carl Lawson, Auburn: Forced to miss six games in 2015 because of a hip injury, the 6-2, 257-pounder showed glimpses of his pass-rushing talent. Lawson, who missed all of 2014 after suffering a torn ACL during spring practice, still managed 17 total tackles, 11 QB hurries and a sack.

6. Daeshon Hall, Texas A&M: Second on the Aggies in tackles for loss (14.5), the rising senior added 54 total tackles, 7 sacks, 4 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles and 2 pass break-ups in 2015.

5. Marquis Haynes, Ole Miss: The Rebels’ leader in tackles for loss (16.5) and sacks (10) in 2015 accumulated those numbers while anchoring a line with Nkemdiche. It will be interesting to see if the 6-3, 220-pounder can improve upon those numbers in addition to his 43 total tackles, 8 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles and 2 pass break-ups from his sophomore season.

4. Charles Harris, Missouri: Second the SEC in tackles for loss (18.5), Missouri’s sack leader with seven continues the Tigers’ recent tradition of outstanding pass rushers. The 6-3, 255-pound Kansas City product added 56 total tackles, 10 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles and a pass break-up.

3. Jonathan Allen, Alabama: The Crimson Tide’s leader in tackles for loss (14) and sacks (12.5) this past season recently announced that he was returning to Tuscaloosa for his senior year, which will definitely help new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.  The 6-3, 283-pounder also delivered 36 total tackles, 6 QB hurries, 4 pass break-ups and 2 forced fumbles.

2. Derek Barnett, Tennessee: A 6-3, 257-pound rising junior led Tennessee with 10 sacks and topped its defensive linemen with 69 total tackles in 2015. His 12.5 tackles for loss were behind only Jaylen Reeves-Maybin’s team-leading 14. The Nashville product also added 7 QB hurries, a forced fumble and a pass break-up.

1. Myles Garrett, Texas A&M: The 6-5, 262-pounder just completed a sophomore season in which he led the SEC in tackles for loss (19.5) and sacks (12.5). But check out these other numbers: 59 total tackles, 10 QB hurries, 5 forced fumbles, 2 pass break-ups, a blocked kick and an interception. Second-year defensive coordinator John Chavis is undoubtedly happy that Garrett still has at least a season of eligibility left.
