Vic Schaefer is going to be tough to beat for this award.

With Mississippi State winning the SEC regular-season title following an undefeated mark, at least thus far in the season, Schaefer appears to be a safe bet to win the Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year award.

He won’t be the only SEC coach up for the award, however, as two other SEC coaches were named among the 10 semifinalists for the national honor.

Here are the three SEC coaches named semifinalists, along with their overall and SEC records this season:

  • Robin Pingeton – Missouri: 22-5 overall, 10-4 in the SEC
  • Vic Schaefer – Mississippi State: 28-0 overall, 14-0 in the SEC
  • Joni Taylor – Georgia: 22-5 overall, 10-4 in the SEC

These coaches are also up for the award:

Karen Aston – Texas, Geno Auriemma – UConn, Kelly Graves – Oregon, Muffet McGraw – Notre Dame, Kim Mulkey – Baylor, Jeff Walz – Louisville, and Amy Williams – Nebraska
