It’s shaping up to be a Big Ten-SEC battle for one of Indiana’s top recruits.

Lawrence North QB Donaven McCulley revealed Saturday via his Twitter account that Ole Miss, Missouri, Purdue, Iowa and Indiana are his current top five schools. Listed at 6-5, 195 pounds, McCulley is rated the No. 3 Indiana product, No. 12 dual-threat quarterback and No. 305 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. The Indianapolis native has received 12 scholarship offers so far.

247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu recently shared his evaluation of McCulley:

Tall, bigger-framed prospect. Very good athlete who can run and make plays with his feet. Throws well on the move and shows the ability to throw from every angle and does not have to be set to generate velocity. Above-average arm strength and can throw with touch. Has to keep working on getting set and getting rid of the ball quickly consistently. Although he was forced to scramble more based on protection. Could potentially play another position but has good upside as a quarterback. If the talent gets polished, he can start at a high-major level and have a chance to play beyond college.

Trieu’s pro comparison for McCulley is a name familiar to many SEC football fans: Josh Dobbs. McCulley’s highlights can be viewed below via Hudl:
