The list is out.

Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports has released his annual ranking of college football’s biggest freaks. The SEC claimed six spots on the list:

1. DL Shawn Oakman, Baylor
2. DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M
3. DT Anthony Zettel, Penn State
4. WR Kolby Listenbee, TCU
5. CB/WR/KR Adoree’ Jackson, USC
6. DB Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
7. DL Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss
8. CB KeiVarae Russell, Notre Dame
9. DE Dadi Nicolas, Virginia Tech
10. NT Uso Olive, Wyoming
11. TE LaQuan McGowan, Baylor
12. LB Jaylon Smith, Notre Dame
13. RB Samaje Perine, Oklahoma
14. OLB Montese Overton, East Carolina
15. G Christian Westerman, Arizona State
16. C Kyle Friend, Temple
17. DE Kemoko Turay, Rutgers
18. RB Jalen Hurd, Tennessee
19. CB Tony Brown, Alabama
20. C Ryan Norton, Clemson
21. WR Shane Williams-Rhodes, Boise State
22. LT Connor McGovern, Missouri
23. DE Carl Lawson, Auburn
24. NT Will Geary, Kansas State
T25. NT Jon Cunningham, Kent State
T25. OT Ian Anderson, Ball State

There are some major omissions to Feldman’s list. At running back, Georgia’s Nick Chubb and Leonard Fournette comes to mind.

I find it difficult to believe that Chubb isn’t as much of an athletic freak as Tennessee’s Hurd.

Also, given that many players on Feldman’s list are there due to weight-room prowess, Alabama defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand fits the bill.

Making this annual list has become more than a bragging-rights honor. Feldman has fine-tuned the selection process so well that he’s often in agreement with NFL general managers. Inclusion on the list bodes very well for the players’ NFL draft potential.

Five SEC players made Feldman’s list of college football “freaks” prior to last season. All five became high draft picks:

  • Georgia RB Todd Gurley (first round, No. 10 overall)
  • Kentucky OLB Bud Dupree (first round, No. 22 overall)
  • Missouri DE Shane Ray (first round, No. 23 overall)
  • Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney (second round, No. 43 overall)
  • Auburn WR Sammie Coates (third round, No. 87 overall)
