Eight centers from SEC teams on Monday were named to the Rimington Trophy 2017 Spring Watch List, the award for the top center in college football.

The Rimington committee took nominations from schools across the country. The SEC’s eight players was tied for second among conferences with the Big 12, while the MAC had a conference-high nine players chosen.

Among the SEC picks, Arkansas’s Frank Ragnow was a second-team Associated Press all-SEC selection last season. Ragnow is a native of Victoria, Minnesota, and last year was also named the nation’s best offensive lineman and best run blocker and a first-team All-American by Pro Football Focus. Ragnow has made 26 straight starts entering his senior campaign with 14 starts at right guard and 12 at center.

Ole Miss’ Sean Rawlings of Madison, Mississippi, has played in 21 games with 15 starts in two seasons. He started seven games at right tackle and one at center a year ago and is a favorite to be the team’s full-time center entering his junior campaign.

Alabama’s Bradley Bozeman, who also made the list, started all 15 games last season, and played in all 15 games two years ago.

Auburn’s Austin Golson, has played in 36 career games, 24 at Auburn, all starts, and 12 at Ole Miss. Last year, he was a second-year starter on offensive line, started the first four games at left tackle, and the last nine games at center.

After a redshirt year in 2015, Florida’s T.J. McCoy appeared in seven games in 2016, including four starts. He came off the bench to play center in Florida’s game against South Carolina, and then started the final four contests of the season.

LSU’s Will Clapp is a two-year starter, but is moving to center from left guard, yet has battled a shoulder injury recently.

South Carolina’s Alan Knott made the list after he started 12 of 13 games in 2016, and has started 25 of 30 games with the Gamecocks.

The Texas A&M name on this list may have clarified the Aggies offensive line alignment, the Dallas Morning News speculated. Last year, Colton Prater started 10 games at left guard and two at right tackle.
