The Lott IMPACT Trophy, which goes to the best defensive player in character and performance, has released a 42-player watch list for 2016 which includes eight players from the SEC. Alabama leads the way with three players named to the list.

  • Evan Berry, DB, Tennessee
  • Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
  • Charles Harris, DL, Missouri
  • Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama
  • Tim Williams, LB, Alabama

The award, which was introduced in 2004, is named for NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott, a former USC Trojan. The IMPACT acronym in the name of the award stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity. Penn State DE Carl Nassib was the winner of the award for the 2015 season.

In 12 years, three former SEC players have won the award: Georgia LB David Pollack (2004), Alabama LB DeMeco Ryans (’05) and LSU NT Glenn Dorsey (’07).
