Everyone knows who the nation’s top 2 quarterbacks are for 2020 — Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

Fields, the former Georgia signal caller, burst onto the scene in 2019 throwing for 41 touchdowns at Ohio State, while Lawrence started slow and finished strong for the Tigers. The Clemson quarterback has thrown for 66 touchdowns over the last 2 seasons and is largely projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The SEC was showered with quarterback talent last season, and although Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa — both were top 5 picks — will be playing in Sundays now, the SEC still returns quite a bit of talent at the position.

Sporting News recently ranked the nation’s top 25 signal callers, and 8 SEC quarterbacks made the cut, with 3 of them never having played a down in the conference.

25. Bryce Young, Alabama
24. Myles Brennan, LSU
22. Bo Nix, Auburn
20. KJ Costello, Miss State
18. Mac Jones, Alabama
14. Kyle Trask, Florida
12. Kellen Mond, Texas A&M
10. Jamie Newman, Georgia

Georgia incoming quarterback Jamie Newman has the talent to become a difference-maker for Georgia’s offense after losing Jake Fromm; however, questions still remain about how Newman will perform against top tier defenses and personnel.

Most analysts are largely projecting Florida’s Kyle Trask to be the top quarterback in the league. Some have even compared him to Joe Burrow. Nonetheless, another offseason for Trask in Florida’s offense should prove valuable, and the Gators have firepower returning around him, too.
