Temple hired former Florida DC Geoff Collins to be its head coach prior to the 2017 season, but with Collins reportedly taking the Georgia Tech job, the Owls are on the hunt again.

Could they look to the SEC once again? Collins led the team to a 15-10 record in his two seasons in Philadelphia, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them look to the SEC for this coaching hire.

According to ESPN reporter Adam Rittenberg, a pair of SEC assistants could be in the mix for the job — Alabama co-OC Josh Gattis and Mississippi State DC Bob Shoop:

Other possible candidates include Alabama co-offensive coordinator/receivers coach Josh Gattis, Mississippi State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown, Buffalo head coach Lance Leipold, Boston College co-defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile. Would Temple look at Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano?

It’s still early in the Temple search (Day 1, obviously), but don’t be surprised if these guys work their way into the mix.

Collins was a good coach for the Owls, so they probably have fond feelings for SEC assistants.
