If you missed it on Tuesday, Auburn revealed the 2017 SEC West Championship rings the program earned last season. An accomplishment to be sure, one that helped the Tigers advance to the 2017 SEC Championship Game and led the program one victory away from a likely College Football Playoff berth.

Of course, that dream never materialized as Auburn was defeated by Georgia in Atlanta by a commanding 28-7 margin, giving UGA the league title. Making matters worse, Auburn then dropped its final game of the season, also in Atlanta, to UCF in the Peach Bowl.

The conclusion to the season managed to take much of the air out of Auburn’s program despite the team’s regular season wins over Georgia and Alabama — which were both ranked No. 1 at the time of the game.

Now with the Bulldogs claiming the SEC Championship and archrival Alabama claiming the National Championship, winning the SEC West doesn’t seem like that much of an accomplishment to some. You can count Crimson Tide linebacker Terrell Lewis among those not impressed.

Here was Auburn’s unveiling of its SEC West rings:

To which Lewis responded:

For anyone curious, we are only 220 days until the next edition of the Iron Bowl.
